Get home safely - Travelling by taxi

Have a spacer such as fruit juice not a chaser to help reduce your alcohol intake.
Planning your journey home is an important part of a good night out.

If you visit the city centre early in the evening, there are many transport choices which are not available when the pubs and clubs close, however, First Travel runs a variety of night bus services and Glasgow Taxis operates throughout the night.

Alternatively you could ask a sober friend to drive into the city to give you a lift home. Whatever choice you make think about your safety by following these tips:

Travelling by taxi.
  • Only use reputable taxi companies.
  • Never get into an unmarked car without checking for confirmation that it is a real taxi.
  • Ask for the name of the driver so you can check when he arrives.
  • Ask the taxi company what type and colour of car it is sending so you will recognise it when it arrives.
  • Ask the driver not to drive away until you are safely inside the house.
  • If alone, do not sit beside the driver. If you do so, you will place yourself in a more vulnerable position.
