What is the Best Bar None award all about?
Best Bar None sets down operating standards for the management and bar staff of licensed premises.
Because the pilot worked so well in Manchester as part of their City Centre Safe programme, it is now being rolled out across the UK as far north as Inverness. Premises gaining accreditation under the scheme have proven that it’s an effective means of tackling violent crime and disorder. That’s good news for all of us on a night out!
Initiatives like this also improve relationships between police and drinks industry stakeholders as licensing laws change.
The Best Bar None is awarded for best practice in relation to safety and customer care. Each licensed venue must prove that it meets certain standards and is awarded with an accreditation certificate and plaque.
Any licensed premises in Glasgow City Centre can apply for the Award which is sponsored by Diageo. Each November in Glasgow, awards are made to bars, clubs, restaurants that meet the criteria.
